Engineer who launched the third line of the Minsk metro sentenced for Hayun
Yury Karnitsky is a high-class specialist in audiovisual systems who worked for the large integrator Netland. He set up complex equipment for new stations of the Minsk metro, but his professional merits did not save him from persecution. He was recently sentenced.

Yury Karnitsky is 44 years old. He studied in France, graduating from Lumière University Lyon 2 in 2007. He built his career in high technologies: first, he worked for almost seven years as an engineer in the STC group of companies, then moved to Mobile Service Ltd, where he dealt with audiovisual solutions.
Since April 2021, Yury worked as an engineer at Netland. It was here that he participated in a large-scale state project — the launch of the third line of the Minsk metro. Yury was involved in commissioning complex digital systems: from in-car video surveillance and public address systems at stations to unified time systems.
One of Yury's great passions is cars, especially brands from the PSA group (Peugeot and Citroen). In his free time, Yury wrote a lot in thematic chats, where he helped others: he shared maintenance experience, helped choose oils and spare parts, and understood the nuances of engine operation and particulate filters.

Another one of his hobbies is airsoft. The man also travels, plays sports, and loves being in nature. He has a minor daughter.
Yury disappeared from social media about 10 months ago — it seems he was arrested and held in a pre-trial detention center. The man was sentenced in the Minsk City Court under parts 1 and 2 of Article 361‑4 of the Criminal Code — «facilitating extremist activity.» Karnitsky was sentenced to restriction of freedom.
