The investigation established that the man read about hallucinogenic mushrooms in specialized chats and learned what they look like. With this knowledge, he went to the forest, where he found mushrooms matching the description. After that, he dried them and stored them at home in a glass jar.
During a search of his residence, law enforcement officers found and confiscated more than 16 grams of particularly dangerous plant-derived psychoactive substances — psilocin and psilocybin, which are contained in the mushrooms.
The detainee explained that he intended to use them for personal needs.
A criminal case has been initiated against the man. According to the law, he could face punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to five years.
The police reminded that there are no legal drugs in Belarus: all such substances are prohibited, and any actions involving them entail criminal liability.
