According to a report by Sky News, a 33-year-old man is suspected of having broken into the home of a local police officer in Bangkok three times in early February. He is accused of stealing valuables worth approximately 2 million baht (more than 63 thousand US dollars).
Previously, police had already tried to apprehend the suspect, but he noticed the pursuit and fled. Eventually, however, the man was located by tracking the stolen amulets he had sold. It also turned out that he frequently visited temples in Nonthaburi province.
The arrest took place during the Chinese New Year celebration. Police officers in lion costumes danced at the market so as not to arouse suspicion. At a certain moment, one of them suddenly pounced on the man and pinned him to the ground.
Police noted that the suspect confessed to the thefts and stated that he did it to buy drugs and participate in gambling. He had previously been convicted of drug-related crimes and theft.
