US President Donald Trump announced that he held talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as well as representatives of "Hezbollah", and convinced the parties of the need for de-escalation. "I had a very productive conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu: no troops will go to Beirut, and those that were already on their way have been turned back. In another post, he stated that negotiations with Iran are continuing in an intensive mode.
Earlier on Monday, the Iranian news agency Tasnim reported that Tehran's negotiating team was suspending all contacts with the US through intermediaries due to attacks on Lebanon.
"Given the ongoing attacks by the Israeli regime in Lebanon, as well as the fact that Lebanon was one of the prior conditions for a ceasefire — which is now violated in all directions, including Lebanon — the Iranian negotiating delegation is suspending negotiations and message exchanges through intermediaries," the statement said.
Commenting on these reports, Trump stated that Iran had not informed Washington of its decision.
"This is a completely reasonable statement, because they negotiate better than they fight," he said in a brief comment. "But they didn't inform us about it."
"Frankly, I think we've talked too much. I think it would be very good to just be silent," the American leader added.
