Putin handed over two Ukrainian prisoners with Hungarian citizenship to Hungary. Ukrainian MFA: This is cynical PR
Russian President Vladimir Putin promised to hand over two Ukrainian servicemen, who hold Hungarian citizenship and are prisoners of war, to Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó. This happened during Szijjártó's meeting with Putin in Moscow, writes «Europeyska Pravda».

Reportedly, during the meeting, Putin noted that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had previously discussed the issue of these prisoners with him in a telephone conversation. After that, he allegedly decided to release these two people and allow Szijjártó to take them with him to Hungary on the same plane he arrived in Moscow on.
Earlier, Szijjártó announced the summoning of the Ukrainian ambassador in connection with accusations of alleged forced mobilization of Hungarians in Ukraine. In addition, he spoke in support of the illegal transfer of Ukrainian men across the border, claiming that mobilization in Ukraine complicates the end of the war started by Russia.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine immediately reacted to the statement about Putin's decision.
The department reported that the Ukrainian side had not received official information about who exactly was released from Russian captivity. In this regard, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs plans to invite the interim chargé d'affaires of Hungary to obtain confirmed data. Ukraine will also send a request for access to these individuals.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also emphasized that the return of people from captivity is a priority for the country. At the same time, they noted that this is not the first time Moscow and Budapest have used the sensitive issue of prisoners of war for political purposes. The Ukrainian MFA called it unacceptable that the release of people becomes part of Viktor Orbán's election campaign or an element of political relations with the Kremlin.
Ukraine also condemned attempts to use the topic of the ethnicity of Ukrainian servicemen in political statements from the Hungarian side.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine emphasized:
«Genuine humanitarian efforts, made by those states of the world that sincerely help Ukraine liberate people from captivity and protect lives, are never accompanied by such cynical PR and politicization. It is important that life has the highest value.»
