52-year-old Aliaksandr Zakharchenko will become the new head of the Belarusian Tennis Federation, writes Betnews.by.
He will be the successor to Siarhei Rutenka, who held the position since November 2021 and may potentially head the Belarusian Basketball Federation, which is currently led by Foreign Minister Maksim Ryzhankou.
Zakharchenko is known for his work at FC BATE, where he served for a long time as Deputy Chairman of the Board under Anatol Kapski. The elective-reporting conference of the Belarusian Tennis Federation will be held on March 13.
Two weeks ago, former Belarusian national handball player and Chairman of the Belarusian Tennis Federation, Siarhei Rutenka, was nominated as a candidate for the position of Chairman of the Belarusian Basketball Federation.
Last spring, Aliaksandr Lukashenka already proposed changing the leadership of the Belarusian Basketball Federation, which is headed by Foreign Minister Maksim Ryzhankou.
"Let him deal with the ministry. And we need to find a strong person there who will deliver results," Lukashenka said then. According to him, Ryzhankou already has many tasks, and there are problems in basketball.
