After several years of decline, the number of agro-estates in Belarus has started to grow again
In Belarus, after several years of significant decline, the number of agro-estates has slightly increased for the first time. This is evidenced by the latest statistical data published by Belstat, writes Thinktanks.pro.

The mass reduction of such facilities began in 2021 after the tightening of state requirements. The most serious blow was the mandatory re-registration in 2023, which more than half of the agro-estates failed to complete.
The re-registration was introduced by Lukashenka's decree No. 351 "On the Development of Agro-ecotourism". The authorities explained this by the need to stop situations where hotel or restaurant businesses are actually conducted under the guise of agro-estates. Another strengthening of the rules was the requirement, starting from October 1, 2024, to mandatorily pay contributions to the Social Protection Fund.
As a result, the number of agro-ecotourism facilities significantly decreased: according to Belstat, from 2021 to 2024, it dropped from 3150 to 1408.
In 2025, the situation changed slightly. The number of agro-estates increased by 33 facilities.
Growth was observed in almost all regions, except for the Gomel region, where 116 such facilities are currently operating. The majority of agro-estates are located in the Minsk region — about 480.
In total, about 427.6 thousand people rested in agro-estates in 2025. The majority of them are residents of Belarus. Compared to the previous year, the number of guests increased by approximately 44.9 thousand people.
