Minister of Culture Ruslan Charnecki introduced the new artistic director to the Yanka Kupala Theater collective. The director Dzmitry Akimau became the new head.

"A new page begins in the history of the famous, flagship theater of Belarus. I am confident that many wonderful performances and impressions await us!" — noted the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Belarus and wished creative success.
"My primary goal is to implement a long-term development strategy for the theater, so that we all feel and understand its mission and direction. We must understand what it should be according to all indicators: creative, economic, and socio-political. I will do everything possible to ensure that the theater lives up to its high status," Akimau said in his response.
On the theater's website, Volha Niafedava, who headed the Kupala Theater in autumn 2020, is still listed as the artistic director.
