Organizers say it has become unsafe for laureates to travel to the USA.

Winners come to the ceremony from all over the world. The first 35 ceremonies (1991—2025) took place in Massachusetts, writes the BBC.
The Ig Nobel Prize has been awarded since 1991. It was founded by the humorous scientific journal "Annals of Improbable Research". As stated in the award's charter, it is awarded to the authors of the 10 most original and funny scientific works that "first make you laugh, and then — make you think".
"Over the past year, it has become unsafe for our guests to visit the country. We cannot in good conscience ask new winners or international journalists covering this event to come to the USA this year," explains Marc Abrahams, editor of the Annals of Improbable Research journal, founder and host of the ceremony.
Alexander Lukashenka has twice been an Ig Nobel Prize laureate.
The first time was in 2013 for prohibiting public applause, which was banned by the Minsk police during silent protest actions in 2012. He shared the prize with the Minsk police.
In 2020, presidents of nine countries, including Alexander Lukashenka, Vladimir Putin, and Donald Trump, became laureates of the prize in medical education. The award was given to the leaders of Belarus, Russia, the USA, Brazil, Great Britain, India, Mexico, Turkey, and Turkmenistan "for using the COVID-19 pandemic to teach the world that politicians can have a more immediate effect on life and death than scientists and doctors."
