Fedarau had a stroke on January 23, 2026, when the man was participating in a stream by blogger Siarhei Piatrukhin. After the broadcast, Anatol was taken away by an ambulance.
As Anatol told "Nasha Niva", he has already managed to partially recover:
"Overall, I feel normal now, but sometimes there's weakness. I can walk on my own and take care of myself, but for now, it's limited. Cognitive abilities are almost undisturbed, articular functions have deformities, but they can be corrected."
Nevertheless, there is still a long way ahead. Fedarau's right arm doesn't work well, so he needs sessions with a rehabilitation therapist. He also needs to work with a speech therapist to improve his speech, which was damaged by the illness. And to purchase a cane and a wheelchair.
Fedarau has Polish state insurance, but, according to him, that insurance does not provide enough rehabilitation. From February 16 to March 20, he was in a specialized rehabilitation center in Warsaw. The rest of the time, the man is in one of Warsaw's clinics, not adapted for rehabilitation.
Anatol Fedarau is a long-time BNF activist; he participated in the dissident movement even in Soviet times. Fedarau was deputy chairman of the BNF, heading the Mahilioŭ community. In 2020, Anatol participated in protests and was detained for days. After moving to emigration, he created the "National Democratic Platform", supports Dzmitry Balkunets in initiatives like "Ultimatum to Lukashenka", and criticizes Tsikhanouskaya's Office.
