On May 23, Andrei «Phil» Filatau passed away — a member of the rock bands «Suzor’e», Zindan, Mojo Blues, «Krama», writes Reform.news.
According to his friends, the artist suffered a stroke two days ago. He passed away this morning. The musician was 71 years old.
Andrei Filatau was born in Minsk in 1954. He graduated from the Physics Faculty of BSU. He has been on stage since 1977 when he debuted with the band «Suzor’e». Co-author of «Suzor’e»'s hit «Vyasenni Dzen» (Spring Day).
He joined the Zindan band in 1991. In 1999, he became a member of «Mojo Blues», and a year later joined «Krama».
From the mid-1990s until 2003, he was the sound engineer for Minsk's «Star-Club», and performed as a host at the «Blues Lives in Minsk» festival. He won the grand prize at the R. Rydel Festival in Tychy (Poland) in 2003.
Andrei Filatau maintained his channel on YouTube, where he uploaded recordings of performances by Belarusian rock and blues bands and artists.
