"Wonders of the apocalyptic world". In Donbas, birds weave nests from drone fiber optics

Ukrainian scientist Oleg Malchenko, a Doctor of Historical Sciences who is currently fighting as part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Donbas, showed an unusual bird's nest, partially woven from optical fiber used in drones.

According to Oleg Malchenko, after the explosion of a guided aerial bomb, a tree was felled, and a nest fell from its crown, into which pieces of drone fiber optics were woven along with grass and twigs. Malchenko called such a discovery a "wonder of the apocalyptic world" and an example of how animals adapt to new living conditions even in a combat zone.

He noted that birds use all available materials to build their nests, so the remnants of modern military technologies also become part of the environment. In his opinion, this symbolically reflects the ability of wildlife to adapt to the most difficult circumstances.

At the same time, the serviceman drew attention to the negative consequences of the war for birds. According to his observations, constant explosions and gunfire often cause concussions and disorientation in them. Some birds fall from trees, while others, having flown up, crash into buildings or poles.

Oleg Malchenko also spoke about a great spotted woodpecker that lived near their dugout for a long time and seemed to ignore the rumble of artillery. However, during one of the airstrikes, the bird died from fragments of a destroyed roof of a nearby house.
