Book about Belarus by German researcher Ingo Pez to be released in Sweden

The book by German journalist, writer, and researcher Ingo Pez, «Rasender Stillstand: Belarus — eine Revolution und die Folgen», was originally published in 2024, and in August it will be released in Swedish translation by Bokförlaget Stolpe, writes bellit.info.

The book «Belarus: En revolution och dess följder» (Belarus: A revolution and its consequences) was translated into Swedish from German by Nils Håkansson.

«The fact that the book is appearing on the Swedish book market is, in my opinion, no accident, because Sweden, as a pioneering country, began early to discover modern Belarusian literature and culture, thereby providing artists and writers from Belarus with new platforms and bridges, integrating them into the European discourse. This has led to increased interest and greater involvement in the country's affairs, which, among other things, include support for the Belarusian democratic movement, civil society, and media. The book will be released in August, and at the end of September, I will be a guest at the Gothenburg Book Fair to present it and discuss Belarusian topics with experts,» Ingo Pez shared the news on social networks.

Journalist and writer Ingo Pez has been studying Belarus for almost thirty years, and in this book, he examines both the events that led to the 2020 revolution and its consequences. Here he answers questions such as: what impact have the regime's repressions had on society? What does everyday life look like in present-day Belarus? What motivates supporters of the regime? And what are the possibilities for change? «Belarus: A revolution and its consequences» is a poignant and timely book about a repressive dictatorship in close proximity to Sweden.
