Alexander Lukashenka bet that Russia would seize Ukraine, but he couldn't hit the jackpot. This is how stated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview for the Financial Times.

According to him, in Russia's war against Ukraine, Lukashenka made an 'all or nothing' bet, but instead, he gambled away his reputation and self-trust.
«He went to the casino on the wrong day. He was sure he would hit the jackpot. But he hit nothing,» Zelenskyy believes.
However, he says, at the same time, Lukashenka, unlike Russian President Vladimir Putin, «fully understands all the risks».
«If you know that the war is not won, and you are suddenly drawn further into this war as an ally... Well, he has enough common sense to understand that he shouldn't be drawn into it,» believes the President of Ukraine.
