Russia introduced a complete ban on diesel fuel exports

Russia's Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak announced the decision to ban diesel exports during a government meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to him, the measure should increase the volume of diesel fuel on the domestic market.

This decision became another testament to the fuel problems in Russia. Previously, there was a ban on diesel exports for companies not engaged in its production, and recently, fuel exports have virtually almost stopped.

Previously, Russia had a significant surplus of diesel fuel: refineries produced approximately 85 million tons, while domestic consumption was about 46 million tons, so a large part of the production went for export.

Now, the Russian authorities expect to direct more fuel domestically and report that imports of petroleum products could begin as early as July.
