In Belarus, the amounts of fines for some traffic violations have changed. This was stated by Sergey Dobriyan, head of the Department of Administrative Activity of Internal Affairs Bodies at the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

One of the main changes concerns drivers who continue to drive after their driver's license has expired.
Previously, such a violation entailed a fine of 5 to 20 basic units. Now its amount has been significantly reduced — from 2 to 5 basic units.
Thus, the maximum fine was reduced fourfold — from 20 to 5 basic units, and the minimum — from 5 to 2 basic units.
In addition, such a violation is now classified as an administrative offense. If a person fails to notice for the first time that their driver's license has expired, they may be exempt from administrative liability.
The changes also affected preventive measures. Oral remarks, warnings, and educational influence measures can now be applied during the period when an administrative penalty can be imposed for an offense — two months.
If no procedural decision is made and no administrative penalty is imposed within these two months, preventive measures against the person are no longer applied.
