They planned a wedding but didn't return from vacation. 21-year-old Hleb and 20-year-old Nastassia from Brest died in an accident in Georgia
The young couple studied at the same school, and although Nastassia entered university in Pinsk, they stayed together.

On the evening of August 12, a minibus carrying Belarusian tourists was returning from the high-altitude resort of Gomismta in Georgia. On the 16th kilometer of the road towards Ozurgeti, the vehicle veered off the road, plunged into a gorge, and crashed into a tree. Four Belarusians died. Among them were 21-year-old Hleb Melnik and his 20-year-old fiancée Nastassia Filyuk from Brest.
Gomismta is located in the Georgian region of Guria, at an altitude of 2755 meters. It is called "the resort in the clouds": in clear weather, the Black Sea is visible from there, and the clouds lie below the observation decks. People climb there to see the sunset and return with photos that make it seem like you are standing above the sky. Hleb and Nastassia also went there for these impressions. They never returned home.

Nastassia studied economics, Hleb was interested in fishing
Hleb and Nastassia are from Brest, both attended secondary school No. 28. Hleb was a year older. They have been together since at least the summer of 2023. Joint photos on social networks show the ordinary life of a young couple: walks, kisses, hugs, and smiles.

The couple recently got engaged. The young people went to Georgia for a vacation.

After school in 2023, Nastassia entered Polessky State University in Pinsk — into the Faculty of Economics and Finance. In February 2025, she, along with another student, came to her home school to talk about her faculty.

Hleb was 21 years old. In his senior high school years, he twice participated in an international informatics competition. His Instagram preserved school photos in ceremonial cadet uniform.

There are also shots in Soviet uniform near Brest railway station. They were taken during the historical reconstruction of the defense of Brest-Central station in March 2022. Around fifty participants then recreated the events of June 1941.

Hleb was fond of airsoft and fishing. In the Belarusian community of fishermen, he regularly asked where and what kind of fish was biting. The guy fished with a feeder, checked the ice conditions in winter, and looked for live bait in Brest.

A road that smells of brakes
According to the Georgian prosecutor's office, the minibus veered off the road, plunged into a gorge, and collided with a tree. Four passengers died, 15 Belarusians were injured. The driver himself was also injured. Local residents say that on this descent, the smell of overheated brakes is often noticeable. The driver might have overheated the brakes and then lost control.
The investigation determined that the driver did not have the license category required to transport such a number of people. Despite this, he drove foreign tourists. The man was detained and charged under Part 8 of Article 276 of the Criminal Code of Georgia — violation of traffic safety rules that led to the death of more than two people. He faces up to ten years in prison. On August 15, the court remanded him in custody.
As of August 16, 12 injured Belarusians, including five children, had already been discharged from Georgian hospitals. Three others remained under medical supervision.
In addition to Hleb and Nastassia, the victims of the accident were 38-year-old Siarhei and 55-year-old Zhanna.
The bodies of the deceased underwent forensic examination in Batumi. According to information from the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nastassia and Hleb are to be repatriated to their homeland first. The issue was planned to be resolved in the coming days.
