An unusual steampunk-style art object will travel from Belarus to Russia's northern Yamal Peninsula. This was reported by metal artist and project author Uladzimir Kanonik from Dzyarzhynsk District, writes BelTA.

The steel sculpture in the form of a bear was custom-made for one of the enterprises in Gubkinsky city on Russia's Yamal Peninsula. According to the artist, the bear's image was chosen not by chance, as Yamal is associated with a harsh northern region.
It took about two months and over a thousand individual parts, which were assembled into a single composition, to create the sculpture. The bear is 2.4 meters tall and weighs approximately two tons.
Uladzimir Kanonik noted that each such project is unique. His workshop is currently also working on an art object for Lyakhavichy, where a new gas station is planned to open. The sculpture will be related to the 100th anniversary of the first gas station, which was owned by the Nobel brothers.
In total, over 100 art objects from the workshop have already been installed in various regions of Belarus. When creating each of them, the authors strive to connect the sculpture with a specific place, its history, famous personalities, or local traditions.
An important part of the work is the search for materials. For creating sculptures, the artists use old car parts. Some car repair shops, who appreciate the craftsmen's work, donate unnecessary spare parts to them. Thus, old car parts get a second life and are transformed into elements of artistic compositions.
The workshop employs three artists, a wood sculptor, and a painter, while the practical part of the work is performed by welders. The entire process takes place under the guidance of the project author, who pays special attention to the aesthetic appearance of the finished art objects.
