How an experiment in Slutsk showed utility workers that the cause of garbage is not people, but their work
The resonance in social networks forced the city authorities to install trash cans on Builders' Alley in Slutsk.
Garbage regularly accumulated on Builders' Alley in Slutsk. Photographs shared by Slutsk residents showed plastic bottles and other waste near the trash can, as well as garbage on the grass near the river, writes BGmedia. Utility workers claimed that the problem was people's lack of manners.
Slutsk residents agreed that part of the responsibility lay with the visitors to the alley themselves. However, at the same time, people also noted another problem — the lack of trash cans.
There was only one trash can on the entire alley. However, garbage accumulated around it because it could not contain all the waste left by visitors. According to local residents, a greater number of trash cans could help keep the area clean.
The local portal SlutskGorod also drew attention to the fact that the number of bins really affects the situation. They conducted an experiment: they placed a separate bucket near the trash can and observed whether garbage would continue to appear nearby on the ground.
As the experiment showed, people started throwing garbage specifically into the placed bucket.
After this, utility workers installed additional trash cans on the alley.
