The career dive of Lukashenka's former guard — and later his former assistant — Ihar Yauseyev is striking.
Ihar Yauseyev was on top in the 2010s. As the head of public security police for the Minsk City Executive Committee, he did not shy away from personally participating in dispersing demonstrators. Later he was promoted — in 2013, he headed the Vitsebsk regional police, and in 2015, he moved to a similar position in the Minsk regional police. If you proved yourself well, there would be a direct path back to the central apparatus of the ministry, at least as deputy minister of internal affairs. But things didn't work out for Yauseyev.
In 2017, Lukashenka appointed him his assistant for the Minsk region. In 2021, Yauseyev was dismissed — and he finally disappeared from view, although he wasn't old, just a little over 50.
Other retired officials in such a situation managed to get into Union State structures to wait for the maximum pension. But Yauseyev turned out to be a smaller fish.
The other day, he was spotted at the opening of a football tournament in Smalyavichy. As it turned out, the former police bigwig now works merely as the director of the district Center for Physical Culture and Sports — under the control of the major-general are three sports and recreation complexes, a stadium, and a ski base.
