Minsk Resumes Installation of Electronic Timetables at Bus Stops, But With Reservations
Minsk authorities have reconsidered their last year's decision to abandon the development of electronic timetables at public transport stops.
As reported by Aliaksandr Kamendant, First Deputy Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee, timetable systems will be installed at all new stops.
However, the city does not yet plan to massively equip existing objects: out of more than 2,000 Minsk stops, approximately 500 have electronic boards. The authorities explain this by the high cost of the project and the priority of financing for updating the public transport fleet itself.
Last September, the equipping of stops with new electronic boards was abandoned due to electricity costs and the availability of an alternative — the schedule can be viewed online.
