Minsk Postpones Extension of Third Metro Line to Zialiony Luh, Fourth Line Made a Priority
Plans to complete the third line of the Minsk metro to the Zialiony Luh microdistrict remain in force, but the construction of new stations in this direction has been temporarily postponed. Now, the priority for the city will be the construction of the first section of the fourth line. This was announced on STB by Heorhi Pratasau, First Deputy Director and Chief Engineer of the "Minskmetroprojekt" institute.
According to him, the project for the extension of the third line is not being abandoned. In the future, the "Lahoiskaja" station is to become an important transport hub for passengers from Lahoisk, as part of the integration of satellite cities into the capital's transport system.
However, for now, the city has prioritized the 4th line, and the initial plans for its construction have also been adjusted.
The first section of the fourth line will begin to be designed and built from "Ploscha Bahnalor" station in the western direction — towards Kharkauskaya Street, and not to the center to "Akademiya Navuk", as previously planned.
According to Pratasau, studies have shown that the direction towards Kharkauskaya Street is currently the most in-demand for the capital's transport infrastructure.
