An officer from a Navasady colony appointed head of "Wolf's Lairs"
Dmitry Nesterovich previously supervised remote theological courses for inmates and anti-drug streams for schoolchildren. Now he has headed the colony known for its pressure on political prisoners.
From September 1, Dmitry Nesterovich became the head of correctional colony No. 22 in the Ivacevichy district, Mayday.Team reports.
Prior to this, the lieutenant colonel of internal service worked as deputy head for correctional process in strict regime colony No. 14 in the village of Navasady, Barysaw district.
There, Nesterovich supervised remote theological courses, as well as video communication between inmates and their children: convicts read books to them. He also organized streams for schoolchildren, during which convicts for drug crimes talked about the consequences of drug use.
The previous head of "Wolf's Lairs," Viktar Sviryd, retired in July after reaching 50 years of age. His deputy, Aliaksandr Shelest, temporarily managed the colony, but he was not approved for the position.
Colony No. 22 is located approximately 20 kilometers from Ivacevichy on the territory of a former Soviet military unit. In January, human rights activists reported that at least 59 political prisoners were held there, and that pressure on political prisoners had increased.
