X-ray technician with 38 years of medical experience sent to penal colony for political reasons
60-year-old Zhanna Yaskuld was tried for "calls for sanctions" and "facilitating extremist activity".
Zhanna Yaskuld was born in 1966. She worked in medicine all her life. In 1987, she graduated from Minsk Medical College No. 2, having trained as a paramedic. Later, she retrained as an X-ray technician, specializing in dentistry.
Zhanna Yaskuld worked at the capital's medical center "Dimeda".
She was registered in Maryina Horka, which is why she was tried in the Minsk Regional Court.
She was accused under two political articles — "facilitating extremist activity" (Part 1, Art. 361‑4 of the Criminal Code) and "calls for sanctions" (Part 3, Art. 361 of the Criminal Code). Under the more serious of these, the medic faced 4 to 12 years in a penal colony. The exact sentence is unknown.
