Madonna urged Pope Leo XIV to come to Gaza before it's too late

American singer Madonna urged Pope Leo XIV to visit Gaza and help Palestinian children before it's too late. She posted her appeal to the pontiff on Instagram, emphasizing that he is the only one who cannot be denied entry to the enclave, writes the BBC.

“Holy Father, please go to Gaza and bring your light to the children before it’s too late,” Madonna wrote.

“As a mother, I cannot bear to see their suffering. The fate of children in this world is everyone’s business. You are the only one of us who cannot be denied entry,” the singer stated.

Earlier, the UK, EU, Australia, Canada, and Japan issued a joint statement, saying that famine is unfolding in the sector before the eyes of the world, and demanded immediate steps to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.

Israel is facing growing international pressure regarding the humanitarian situation in Gaza. The extent of it is known mainly from the words of Hamas-controlled Palestinian structures and local journalists, some of whom Israel also links to Hamas. Israeli authorities deny the existence of famine in the Gaza Strip and accuse UN agencies of not collecting humanitarian aid stockpiled at border crossings and not delivering it further.

According to some Israeli sources, tons of cargo are involved. However, UN humanitarian agencies insist that they face obstacles and delays in collecting aid from Israeli-controlled border zones.

“We need the humanitarian gates to be fully open to save these innocent children. There is no more time. Please say you will go. With love, Madonna,” reads the singer's appeal to the Pope.

In July, Pope Leo XIV again called for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip after an Israeli strike killed three people sheltering in a Catholic church in Gaza City.

“I call on the international community to uphold humanitarian law and respect the obligation to protect civilians, as well as the prohibition of collective punishment, the disproportionate use of force, and forced displacement of populations,” the Pope stated (quoted by PA News). Since the beginning of the war in Gaza, Madonna has spoken from the stage at her concerts with emotional speeches in support of Palestinians.

She called on fans to bring “peace, light, and love” to the Middle East — both individually and collectively.

“I am not pointing fingers, blaming, or taking anyone’s side. Everyone is suffering. Including the mothers of hostages. I pray that they too will be freed,” Madonna's post states.
