Belavia's Deputy General Director for Marketing, Uladzimir Barkun, stated that flights to the USA are not expected in 2026 for now. However, he emphasized that work in this direction is underway, and New York is considered the most promising destination.
In September, it became known that sanctions were lifted from Belavia for Lukashenka's release of 52 political prisoners from colonies, and in November, Washington officially excluded the airline from the sanctions list. Minister of Transport and Communications Ihar Holub explained that this primarily allowed resolving issues related to aircraft maintenance, financial settlements, and also opened up opportunities for launching new routes and signing intergovernmental agreements on air traffic.
Recently, Belavia acquired three long-haul aircraft. Two of them are already in operation, which allowed opening flights to Hainan, Vietnam, and Sri Lanka. The third aircraft is planned to be put into service by February, and in early 2026, the company intends to start flights to Thailand.
