Two DPRK prisoners of war, currently held in Ukraine, have expressed their desire to move to South Korea and start a new life there, Bild reports .

In an appeal to a human rights organization in Seoul, the captured Koreans wrote that thanks to the support of South Korean residents, they have found new hopes and goals. The men emphasized that they perceive their situation not as a tragedy, but as the beginning of a new stage in life, thanking everyone who gave them courage.
The prisoners noted that they do not feel alone and consider the people in South Korea close — like parents, brothers, and sisters. Therefore, they decided to entrust themselves to this country. The letter was signed by both of them.
According to the South Korean constitution, residents of North Korea are also considered citizens of this state. The government in Seoul confirmed that this provision also applies to North Korean servicemen captured in Ukraine.
