The sculpture is dedicated to the legendary heavy bomber drone (Heavy Shot UAV), whose second name — a direct reference to how the enemy perceives Ukrainian weapons — is 'Baba Yaga'. These drones have become a real terror for Russian troops.
«We are confident: if the drone saves at least one defender's life on the front line, it means that we have already done something not in vain, and that will already be an achievement. This is not the last assistance — we will continue to help the Armed Forces and do everything in our power. And, of course, for the war to end as soon as possible with our victory,» said Mayor Illya Dikiv.
The creation of this unusual monument, symbolizing Ukraine's technological advantage on the front, was initiated by volunteer, patron, and blogger Ihor Omelyanovych.
«In fact, enemies call any large drone of this size that. They always shouted: 'Baba Yaga is flying,' and always hid in shelters, because it truly terrified them. They are trying to replicate this technology, but they are not succeeding,» says the volunteer.
The Heavy Shot UAV is capable of delivering 30 kg of 'gifts' to the enemy or necessary provisions to its own forces at a distance of up to 25 km. It is designed for real warfare, where electronic warfare, shelling, and bad weather prevail.
The main advantages are instant adaptation to any type of ammunition or equipment: one drone — dozens of usage scenarios. It also has enhanced protection for electronics and the body, allowing it to return from missions even after direct fire engagement.
«We are grateful — for us it is an honor that this particular unit will stand here, and people will see it. It is precisely thanks to such equipment that our Defense Forces can fight the enemy daily. This is a prototype of a 2023 unit, already non-operational; only the body is here. At that time, it was one of the largest units in the Defense Forces, carrying the heaviest weight. It is precisely this one that we decided to immortalize here today,» notes Kateryna, a representative of the Heavy Shot manufacturer.
