In Zhlobin district, a man was replacing the floor in a shed and found old weapons
A resident of a small village in the Zhlobin district found an unexpected item during a routine repair of the wooden floor in his shed, reports the State Committee of Forensic Examinations.
When the man started replacing the old floorboards, under a layer of dust, cobwebs, and construction debris, he found an old carbine with an optical sight. A homemade silencer was installed on the weapon's barrel, roughly, but firmly attached to the muzzle.
It was obvious that the carbine had been stored under the floor for a long time and was hidden from prying eyes. Who left it there and why, could not be immediately determined.
The man decided not to get into trouble and voluntarily handed over the found weapon to the police.
Later, the carbine was sent for forensic ballistic examination. Experts determined that the weapon was factory-made and is a manual rifled firearm — a «TOZ-16» carbine of 5.6 mm caliber. It is designed and suitable for firing 5.6×16R (.22 Long Rifle) cartridges.
Experts also examined the muzzle device. It was found that it was homemade and is a component of a manual rifled firearm — a single-chamber silencer, designed to reduce the sound level of a shot. The device was also found to be suitable for its intended use.
