Orsk Oil Refinery completely stopped after Ukrainian strikes, repairs may take six months

The Orsk Oil Refinery in the Orenburg region has completely ceased operations after a recent strike by Ukrainian drones. Repairs could take up to six months. This was announced on August 13 by the governor of the Orenburg region, Yevgeny Solntsev.

According to the Orenburg governor, important infrastructure facilities of the plant were damaged as a result of the attack. It is currently impossible to restore them. An additional problem is that the enterprise uses imported equipment, the replacement of which may be very difficult under international sanctions.

Solntsev stated that repairs could last up to six months. The region, according to him, is preparing for the worst-case scenario.

For now, the Orenburg region will have to increase fuel supplies from other regions. Authorities are already restructuring logistics. Out of 287 gas stations in the region, about 80% are operational. Special transport is prioritized for fuel supply.

The governor admitted that the situation at gas stations remains difficult, but it is currently under control.

The Orsknefteorgsintez Oil Refinery was attacked by drones on the night of August 11. Ukrainian monitoring channels reported that the primary oil refining unit at the plant might have been damaged.

In recent months, attacks on oil industry enterprises have regularly occurred in Russia. Against this backdrop, the country has faced fuel supply problems: gasoline prices are rising, some regions are experiencing shortages, and long queues are forming at gas stations.
