In Vitsebsk, a painting hung in the entrance hall of a house for over ten years, its value only becoming known after it was stolen, writes "Vitbichi" publication.
A local resident contacted the police and reported that a painting had disappeared from the entrance hall. According to her, the canvas had been there for over ten years, but one day it simply vanished.
The painting was inherited by the woman. Since she did not want to keep it in her apartment, she decided to hang the canvas in the entrance hall. The painting quickly became popular with neighbors and became a unique decorative element of the building, so its disappearance did not go unnoticed.
Police officers quickly found the suspect in the theft. She turned out to be a 34-year-old unemployed resident of Vitsebsk.
During the investigation, it was discovered that the painting has significant artistic and material value. Experts estimated its value at approximately 6,000 Belarusian rubles. Neither the owner of the canvas nor the woman who stole it had any idea that the painting was worth so much.
As a result, the owner will have her property returned, and the suspect faces criminal liability for theft.
