Intelligence Information Extracted from Ukrainian Draft Dodgers in Belarus
Ukrainian men of conscription age who manage to illegally enter Belarus are subjected to interrogations by people in civilian clothes. They are interested in information about the movement of Ukrainian military equipment, as well as the locations where Russian missiles and drones hit. This was learned by journalists from the Ukrainian publication "Slidstvo.Info" and the Belarusian Investigative Center.

Men who have already managed to flee Ukraine exchange experiences in Telegram chats with those who are only planning to cross. They claim that interrogations are mandatory and, in their opinion, are conducted by representatives of special services. During such conversations, they are effectively asked to reveal the positions and movement routes of the Ukrainian army.
Journalists' interlocutors say that their documents and phones are taken, and refusing to answer is almost impossible, as no rights effectively apply in Belarus. People are put in a situation of complete defenselessness before the security forces.
Andriy Demchenko, a representative of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, notes that the increase in the number of escapes through Belarus is linked to the activities of organized criminal groups. According to him, most men use the services of intermediaries who organize the illegal route.
The organization of former security forces "BYPOL" believes that the flow of draft dodgers is beneficial to Lukashenka's regime. These people are taken under control, necessary information is obtained from them, and then they are effectively directed towards the borders of the European Union. The main goal, it is claimed, is the collection of intelligence data.
Journalist Andrey Soldatov, editor-in-chief of Agentura.ru, does not rule out that the collected information may be passed on to the Russian leadership and special services.
According to Ukrainian border guards, in 2025, most Ukrainian men who tried to escape through Belarus were detained in the Rivne and Zhytomyr regions, less often in Volyn, Kyiv, and Chernihiv regions.
