Which Belarusians attended the reception of the President of Poland MANY PHOTOS
A Christmas reception hosted by Polish President Karol Nawrocki took place at Warsaw's Belvedere Palace on December 13. Traditionally, representatives of the Belarusian diaspora were invited.
Among the guests were Belarusian politicians, former political prisoners, cultural figures, journalists, and other representatives of the civil society.
Besides Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya and her advisors Franak Viachorka and Dzianis Kuchynski, the head of the National Anti-Crisis Management Pavel Latushka, «Minister of Economy» in the United Transitional Cabinet Alisa Ryzhychenka, and Vice-Speaker of the Coordination Council Liza Prakopchyk were also present.
Representatives of «Belpol» Uladzimir Zhyhar and Matsvei Kupreychyk were also guests at Belvedere.
One could also spot Andrei Sannikov, leader of «European Belarus» and presidential candidate in 2010, and Natallia Radzina, editor-in-chief of «Charter-97».
Recently released political prisoners were invited: editor Maryna Zolatava, lawyer Maksim Znak (who chose a vyshyvanka for the reception), and journalist Kseniya Lutskina.
Euroradio journalist Zmitser Lukashuk presented Karol Nawrocki with his book. Among the invited guests were also blogger Hleb Semianov (one of the hosts of the popular YouTube show «O(b)suzhdaem» who came in a beautiful blazer with cornflowers), Maksim Parshuta and Kiryl Zhautok, who launched the podcast «Made in Poland», analyst Artsiom Shraibman, and sociologist Ryhor Astapenia.
Kupala Theatre actor Aleh Harbuz and actress and audiobook publisher Krystsina Drobysh, who were forced to move abroad after 2020, hosted the cultural part of the reception.
Lawyer Illia Salei and head of the Youth Hub in Warsaw Ales Lapko were also present.
In the first row, one could spot Maryna Hyrin and Yauhen Bury, founders of the Association of Belarusian Business Abroad ABBA. «If I had the option to decline participation in favor of someone else (e.g., a political prisoner), I would gladly do it. But there was no such option,» Bury wrote a couple of days ago when a discussion erupted around the guest lists.
The idea of Christmas receptions hosted by the President of Poland emerged at the end of 2021, when President Andrzej Duda proposed to Tsikhanouskaya to hold a joint event for Belarusians in Poland. Under Nawrocki, the tradition has been maintained.
