Son of Iranian Shah Reza Pahlavi Calls for Further Protests

Reza Pahlavi, son of the Shah overthrown in 1979, and one of the main critics of the current regime in Iran, has called on his people to continue protesting.

«My brave compatriots should raise their voices in anger and protest from Saturday to Monday,» Reza Pahlavi wrote on the X platform. «The world sees your courage and will provide more explicit and practical support for your national revolution.»

Meanwhile, it is quite possible that the protests in Iran have been completely suppressed.

According to Tehran residents, due to the scale of repression and the large number of casualties, street demonstrations have almost stopped this week, and the presence of security forces in the capital has become ubiquitous, resembling conditions of martial law.

The Norway-based human rights organization Hengaw reported that no major demonstrations have been recorded in Iran since January 11. Many cities are experiencing heavy militarization, thousands of people have been detained, and some universities have been closed.

According to estimates by the Israeli Ministry of Defense, cited by The New York Times, protests sharply declined after security forces began widespread use of live ammunition and shut down the internet.

Tehran residents interviewed by Reuters confirmed that the streets have remained relatively calm for several days.
