The fact that Lukashenka sent his press secretary Natalya Eismant to inform the Russian agency RIA Novosti that such a prospect "does not worry him much" indicates that Minsk is very concerned about such a development, believes political analyst Alexander Friedman.

Experience shows that Eismant promptly contacts RIA Novosti precisely when the Belarusian authorities need to react to something — and react urgently, without waiting for Lukashenka to appear in public.
The version that a criminal case in Ukraine could hinder contacts between Washington and Minsk does not seem convincing. Arrest warrants have been issued by the International Criminal Court for Putin and Netanyahu, but this in no way prevents Trump (and not only him) from doing business with them. What then can be said about a criminal case in Ukraine.
It is more likely that a criminal case could exclude Lukashenka, who is hated by the Ukrainian side, from participating in any formats of peace negotiations. And it is precisely this goal that Kyiv may be setting for itself.
The intrigue, however, is not whether a case will be opened, but whether the Americans will interfere with this in the current situation. And if they do, what will they ask (demand) from Lukashenka for "solving this problem."
Well, there's one more thing that should worry Lukashenka. Today in Kyiv, it's "Budanov's time," with whom changes in policy towards Belarus are associated.
Among other things, Budanov has a clear fondness for risky, controversial, but spectacular special operations in the style of Israeli and American special services. And yes: Maduro was also taken out of Venezuela by Americans as part of a criminal case.
