Ex-NATO Secretary General called on European car factories to produce tanks instead of cars
Former NATO Secretary General and former Prime Minister of Denmark, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, stated in an interview with the Spanish publication El Pais that Europe must put its economy on a "war footing" and use the excess capacity of car factories for arms production.

According to Rasmussen, Europe has transport manufacturers with excess capacity who could switch from producing unpopular cars to tanks, planes, ships, and ammunition, as the US did in 1941. He noted that this refers to self-defense potential, not aggression.
The politician emphasized that Europe's problem is not in military command training, but in insufficient supplies and production capabilities. He believes that Europe needs to accelerate the production of strategically important materials and armaments, as there are currently no guarantees of assistance from the US.
The ex-NATO Secretary General also commented on US President Donald Trump's statements regarding Greenland. He called the threat of military action against an ally for territory "horrific" and noted that Europe reacted "correctly" by showing a firm stance towards the American president's intentions.
