To obtain the status "Goods manufactured in Belarus," producers now need to confirm that the product was indeed created in the country. This especially applies to light industry, as follows from a government resolution.
A special point system has been introduced to assess the "Belarusianness" of goods. Each stage of production brings a certain number of points. To have a product recognized as Belarusian, it is necessary to score at least 50 points.
For example, in the production of linen fabrics, the use of Belarusian processed fiber or its special preparation gives 25 points. Another 25 points can be obtained for stages such as weaving, dyeing, and finishing the fabric.
The new rules should help more accurately determine which goods are truly manufactured in Belarus, and which are only assembled or packaged in the country.
