Trump tried on an Olympic gold medal and refused to return it

The US President found himself in the spotlight during a reception for the US hockey team at the White House.

During a ceremonial meeting with the 2026 Olympic champions, Trump received a gold medal from US national team forward Matthew Tkachuk and immediately hung it around his neck. After examining the award, the head of state jokingly declared to general laughter: "Now I'm not giving it back. I'll trade it for something."

The US men's hockey team won gold at the 2026 Olympic Games in Italy, defeating Canada 2-1 in overtime in the final.

American hockey players won Winter Olympics gold for the first time in 46 years.
