The police detained a 31-year-old resident of the Minsk region in an underground passage of a metro station who was asking passersby for money, allegedly for his son's expensive treatment, writes "Minsk Police".
The man was kneeling with an information sign around his neck and, during conversations, convinced passersby that his child was seriously ill and urgently needed rehabilitation abroad.
During verification activities, police officers established that the detainee used the collected money for personal needs.
He was a member of a thematic chat that included several people. In it, among other things, police patrol routes and issues related to fundraising were discussed. The identities of other participants in this chat have also been established.
According to the police report, all of them had previously been brought to criminal and administrative responsibility, including for persistent harassment of citizens.
An investigation is being conducted into this fact.
