Alexander Lukashenka told journalists about a possible deal to sell a Belarusian mine to Americans, writes BelTA.
Lukashenka spoke about the preparation of a "big deal" with the United States. He first addressed this topic during the last All-Belarusian People's Assembly. Then Alexander Lukashenka stated that he offered Americans to buy the mine for $3 billion. In this regard, journalists inquired about the status of the potential deal.
“They (Americans) are thinking. But three billion is the minimum. And the government will calculate the reserves, something else… It will be more expensive,” he said.
He also noted that the issue of price is very important for the US: "They are rich, but they don't want to pay big or normal money. Everyone wants it for free."
The discussion is about the Nezhin Mining and Processing Plant in the Lyuban district — the second enterprise in Belarus for potash ore extraction and production of potash fertilizers with a capacity of up to 2 million tons of potassium chloride per year.
