"This is how people live": Shocking footage from a Gomel dormitory
Toilets don't work, peeling paint and plaster, fungus and mold, trash and dirt — a real communal catastrophe in a video from a Gomel dormitory.
A resident of the dormitory at Sovetskaya, 240, contacted the editorial office of "Mocnyja Naviny" (Strong News). The man described the dreadful conditions in which residents are forced to live.
According to the reader, the toilets in the dormitory "haven't worked for years", faucets leak, water mixers are "for show only": the water is either ice-cold or scalding hot.
Changing a burnt-out light bulb is also a problem — the manager explains this by a lack of funding.
According to the man, the most outrageous thing in this story is that the residents pay diligently. In addition to utility services (about 20 rubles), they pay another 150 rubles. But where this money goes remains a mystery.
"We get nothing allocated; if you don't like it — move out," such an attitude in the dormitory, according to the Gomel resident, has become the norm.
The man sent many videos as proof, showing all the "beauty" of their daily life. The footage causes not only aesthetic disgust but also raises questions about the safety of living conditions.
"This is how people live," the man says in the video.
"Mocnyja Naviny" (Strong News) contacted the dormitory manager for an explanation, but she refused to comment on the situation, only noting that the resident who reached out had already received social housing and was here "on a temporary basis" (literally "on bird's rights").
The manager also advised contacting Oleg Anatolyevich Kravtsevichus, Deputy Director for Ideological Work of KZhREUP "Chyhunachnae" (Railway Housing and Utilities Enterprise), on whose balance the dormitory is located, but no one answered the phone there.
