What to do with books that are on the list of prohibited in Belarus? The Ministry of Information answered
Today, there are 241 books on the list banned by the Belarusian authorities. STB asked what to do with them if a book is in a home library.

Belarusian authorities call banned books "capable of harming national interests." There are currently 241 titles — just at the end of February, the Ministry of Information added 16 books to the list.
STB raised the question of what to do with books that were included in the list of prohibited items but were purchased earlier: "Libraries will remove them from shelves, online retailers will stop selling them. But what about copies on people's personal shelves?"
Here's what Deputy Minister of Information Dzianis Yazerski answered:
«If a person has already acquired a book, for example, before it was included in the list, it is prohibited to disseminate it. That is, you do not have the right to sell, transfer, or give this book as a gift. This will be a violation of the law,» he said.
As reported on STB, the commission that bans books meets at least once every two months. The commission consists of specialists from various fields: from psychologists to criminalists.
But the names of the commission members who make the decisions cannot be found in the public domain, says the correspondent.

Dzianis Yazerski, Deputy Minister of Information of Belarus, adds that, on average, the commission reviews "up to about 40 books" that are identified "in the monitoring process." "And on average, we are forced to ban the distribution of about 30 books," he says.
