Who will be able to get two free IVF attempts? Minister of Health explains
The decree will be prepared soon. Several changes are being introduced.

The draft decree, which will allow a second attempt at IVF (in vitro fertilization) for free, will be finalized within 10-14 days. This was announced by Minister of Health Alexander Khodzhaev on the air of the TV channel "First Information".
The Minister noted that the updated decree will provide "the widest possible scope for applying the procedure to those vulnerable categories of women who, for some reason, have not yet been able to realize their reproductive function."
What will the decree include? A second free IVF attempt is being introduced — not only for married but also for single women. They also plan to increase the age limit for the second attempt to 49 years (the first free IVF is currently allowed up to 40 years).
"A second IVF attempt up to 49 years will be offered to those women who were able to use the first attempt and achieved a result – to give birth. After 40 years, the effectiveness of this procedure decreases. Therefore, it is important that by the age of 40, our couples, single women, realizing the need for motherhood, can use the first attempt and achieve a result," the Minister explained.
The first free IVF attempt in Belarus was introduced in 2021. About 2.5 thousand children have been born under this free IVF program.
Authorities are driven to such measures by the falling birth rate in the country. Thus, over the past year, the birth rate decreased by another 10.7%, and the birth rate coefficient for 2025 will likely be 5.75‰.
