Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed the opinion that for real security, Europe needs Ukraine, Great Britain, Norway, and Turkey. He stated this in The Rest Is Politics podcast, writes "European Pravda."
Zelenskyy noted that if one imagines the US leaving NATO, Europe's security would rely solely on what the EU has in its arsenal — and the European Union in its current form would not be enough.
"I believe that the European Union is in a situation where it needs additional countries. Great Britain, Ukraine, Turkey, and Norway. These are four strong countries that are part of Europe. Together, the armies of Great Britain, Ukraine, and Turkey are stronger than the Russian one. Without Ukraine and Turkey, Europe cannot match Russia. With these four countries, you can control the seas, have protected skies, and the largest land forces," Zelenskyy argued.
He noted that Russian plans foresee increasing the number of troops to 2.5 million by 2030, and under these conditions, Europe must think about what to oppose this force and how to preserve its independence.
"Great Britain was once a member of the European Union. There are concerns about agriculture in the case of Turkey. But all this can be dealt with if the economy is truly strong. However, security comes first, and the economy second. Not the other way around," Zelenskyy said.
