"I am Viktor Orbán, and I want to congratulate you." Magyar recounted his conversation with Orbán

The leader of the Hungarian Tisza Party, Péter Magyar, detailed his conversation with current Prime Minister Viktor Orbán after the latter acknowledged his defeat in the elections. He spoke about this at a press conference in Budapest, answering questions from Hungarian media, as reported by "European Pravda".

Péter Magyar and Viktor Orbán

Magyar admitted that he did not expect a call from Orbán, even though he was convinced of his victory.

"The phone congratulations were brief, and they were as I could have imagined — although, frankly, I didn't think it would happen."

"I was called by Gergely Gulyás, with whom we have known each other for a long time, whom I know well — he is my son's godfather, and we have each other's numbers," Magyar recounted. Gulyás, who works as Orbán's chief of staff, said that Orbán wanted to speak with Magyar but would call him himself, from his own phone.

Péter Magyar recounted an interesting detail: he doesn't answer calls from unknown numbers, so Gulyás was forced to give him the last four digits of Orbán's number so that his number would become "familiar."

"He called. I said: good day, I am Péter Magyar, and he to me — I am Viktor Orbán, and I want to congratulate you. And I replied: I want to thank you."

Recounting the content of this brief conversation, Magyar added that he asked Orbán to jointly eliminate the division in Hungarian society, though he did not specify how this should happen.

"I told him that we have a shared responsibility for uniting the country," Péter Magyar noted.
