The history of the tulip bearing the name of the Belarusian capital began in the Dutch city of Creil. It was there that specialists from the company Sylvestris B.V. bred a new variety, which later joined the elite "Triumph" group.
The flower officially began its existence in international registries on September 28, 2010 — it was then that the name Minsk was officially assigned to the variety. Later, in 2017, after successful trials and propagation, the variety received full legal protection in the Dutch variety register under number 40920, and its rights holder became the company J.A. Borst Bloembollen B.V. from the city of Obdam.
According to the official botanical description, "Minsk" is a two-colored tulip. The main color of the petals is saturated red (shades 45B and 46B according to the international scale), which smoothly transitions to orange-red closer to the edges and ends with a distinct sunny yellow border. This bicolor nature makes the bud noticeable from afar.
The tulip's strong green stem reaches 50 centimeters in height, and the flower itself can reach 7 centimeters. The harmonious appearance of the plant is completed by narrow ovoid leaves, the tips of which have a slight purple hue — the same as in the upper part of the stem.

Besides its beauty, the "Minsk" variety also has important practical significance: it is considered very "resilient." Producers emphasize that when cut, this tulip retains its freshness and shape much longer than other varieties, even if the bouquet stands in a bright room under direct sunlight.
Bulbs of this variety can also be purchased in Belarus. According to one website, when ordering 300 pieces or more, the price of one is 1 ruble 39 kopecks.
