There are 324 citizens of Pakistan in Belarus. This became known on Thursday during the consideration of the bill on the ratification of the Belarusian-Pakistani Memorandum on the employment of Pakistanis, writes Reform.news. The Minister of Internal Affairs, Ivan Kubrakov, was asked how Pakistani citizens behave.
«All violations discovered on the part of Pakistanis who are currently in our country and who have visited us are related to violations of migration legislation, that is, living not at the place where they are registered, or having violated registration deadlines, and so on. No violations of public order by these citizens have been recorded by us for 2025. Yes, there was one crime committed by a group of individuals, which included a citizen of Pakistan. Currently, there are no problems on their part,» he said.
Initially, Alexander Lukashenka announced his readiness to accept up to 150 thousand workers from Pakistan.
Kubrakov also decided to illustrate the Ministry of Internal Affairs' approaches to labor migrants using the example of taxi drivers.
«You all perfectly remember the situation when there was a large number of foreign citizens from different states, but probably more from one country, when taxi drivers were foreign citizens, some of whom not only did not fully comply with traffic rules, but also could not quite speak Russian.
We gathered all entrepreneurs, had a conversation with them, and gathered the foreign citizens. Each of them was also warned that in case of further violation of traffic rules or committing crimes, we would react very harshly. Traffic police officers took control of all taxis where these citizens worked, impartially, but monitored the situation, including with the help of video.
As soon as we sent a certain number of people from our country for violating current legislation, immediately the entrepreneurs who invited them here began to train them. Retraining was organized, including for studying traffic rules. And today, I don't want to say that no one violates traffic rules, but order has been established in this regard. This will be the case with any citizens who come to our country. They are obliged to comply with the current legislation,» the minister said.
