Andriy Yermak was held in a pre-trial detention center in a paid cell
Former Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak was released from custody after posting bail of 140 million hryvnias (about $3.2 million). He confirmed that he was in a paid cell of increased comfort.

After leaving the pre-trial detention center, Yermak told journalists that he did not know the names of those who financially helped him regain freedom, but added that the money was collectively raised by "many people," writes "Suspilne".
The ex-official confirmed that during his short arrest, he was in a cell of increased comfort, the stay in which was paid for by his lawyer.
This service is part of a large-scale project of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, launched back in 2020.
In the Kyiv pre-trial detention center, where Yermak was held, the cost of such VIP services is the highest in the country: a day's stay here costs almost 3,000 hryvnias (about $70), a week - more than 10,000 (about $230), and a month - 15,500 hryvnias ($350).
Former Head of the Ministry of Justice Denys Maliuska previously stated that such cells in the capital enjoy "crazy popularity," which is why there are practically never any free places, and the project itself proved very successful for financing the repair of ordinary free cells.
Paid cells are more like rooms in modest hotels. They have a larger area per person and fewer people (often these are 1-2-person cells). They have new renovations, an isolated bathroom, household appliances - a TV, refrigerator, microwave, sometimes air conditioning and a kettle, better quality beds and mattresses.
Andriy Yermak was arrested on May 14. Since the full amount could not be collected by Friday, he spent the weekend in the detention center.
The ex-head of Zelenskyy's office is involved in a money laundering case through the construction of elite homes near Kyiv.
Yermak headed the Office of the President of Ukraine from February 2020 to November 2025. He was called the gray cardinal of Ukrainian politics and virtually the vice-president of Ukraine, although such a position does not exist there.
