First came the resurgence of ballet flats, then ballet sneakers, and now jazz shoes are taking center stage, writes Harper’s Bazaar.
They are called differently: Oxfords, Derby shoes, or lace-up loafers. However, they all share common features: they fit like a glove, have lacing at the front, and a barely noticeable wide heel.

Immediately after white Oxfords appeared at Spring-Summer 2025 shows for brands like Chanel, Ujoh, Pasqualetti, and Moschino, writer Leandra Medine Cohen, in her Substack blog, called them "the successors to Mary Jane shoes and the next viral flat shoe."

After lace-up styles became the cornerstone of designer Michael Rider's debut show for Celine, this silhouette is selling out rapidly. In the Spring-Summer 2026 collections, a variety of colors — bright red, cobalt, and yellow — appeared on the runways, alongside traditional black and white.

And most recently, actress Charlize Theron wore cream jazz shoes for a press tour in New York, which caused a stir online and definitively solidified their return to fashion.
