"Alesya" and "Maria" to tunnel under Svislach. How the third metro line is being built in the capital
In Minsk, construction continues on another section of the Zelenaluzhskaya metro line – heading towards Bangalore Square. The second mechanized tunnel boring complex has begun operations. Ivan Mikulski, head of the Minsk Metro Construction Directorate, told "Minsk-Novosti" about the progress of the construction .

Heading Underground
— On this section, three station complexes are being built: "Park Druzhby Narodov" (Peoples' Friendship Park), "Komarovskaya," and "Perespa," Mikulski reminds. — This underground section is characterized by the relocation of a large number of utility networks, high groundwater levels, and a crossing under the Svislach River. The harsh and very snowy winter made its adjustments to the metro builders' schedule in recent months.
All new stations are shallow — 15-16 m deep. The structures of "Komarovskaya" and "Perespa" are three-span column types, while "Park Druzhby Narodov" is vaulted.
According to the interlocutor, construction and installation work is currently underway simultaneously on several objects, including in turnaround dead ends about 250 m long between Bangalore Square and Nekrasov Street.

Meanwhile, at the future "Park Druzhby Narodov" station, part of vestibule No. 1, combined with a traction-lowering substation, has already been erected. A road bypass on the right side still needs to be arranged; its construction is currently delayed by the switching of the heating main, which will be carried out in the near future.


— Within the "Komarovskaya" station, at the intersection of M. Bogdanovich Street and V. Khoruzhey Street, almost all utility communications have already been relocated," Mikulski continues. — A bypass was launched on May 9th, and the construction site is now being prepared. Following this, the construction of the diaphragm wall (a retaining concrete structure), the fastening of the pit tiers, and excavation will continue. Approximately half of these works have already been completed.

At the "Perespa" station, bypass roads between Masherov Avenue and Kropotkin Street are also ready. Fencing for the future construction site is currently being installed here.

Twin Tunneling
From "Park Druzhby Narodov" towards "Yubileynaya Square," the mechanized tunnel boring complex "Alesya" started on the left side back in June of last year. By the morning of May 26, the shield had already covered 1,593 m. Recently, routine technical work was carried out to replace the cutting tool, and it has resumed tunneling.
It still needs to cover less than 2,000 m to reach "Yubileynaya Square."

In China, a new tunnel boring complex, named "Maria," was acquired to increase the pace of subway construction. After assembly was completed, it began tunneling on the right side of the tunnel on May 27. The technical parameters of the new shield, in terms of weight, length, and tunneling capability, are similar to those of "Alesya."

A separate and complex object is the crossing under the Svislach River in the area of the "Yubileynaya" hotel, under which both tunneling complexes will later pass. A reinforced concrete slab, 50 cm thick, 13 m wide, and 41 m long, has already been poured in its riverbed. Riverbank reinforcement is currently underway.

Despite some difficulties, the metro builders strive to adhere to construction schedules.
